Dr. Shruti Chavarkar
After spending around 25 years of my life in education and administration, I decided to start my second innings in life, by doing something of my own - a business that will give back to the society I grew up in. Mombay will give employment to homemakers and at the same time deliver quality products for India and the world.
Mombay is not just a brand, but it is a gift of a mother to her son passed down over generations. It’s a journey of tradition, culture and purity. I grew up watching my mother and aunts crafting authentic spice blends of their own, which enhanced the culinary value of our meals. Unfortunately, the authenticity and purity of our spices has been lost in the modern world. Young India wants to conquer the world, but they also want to be connected to their roots. That’s where Mombay comes in - to enhance the quality of our meals with a sprinkle of love and a dash of a mother’s magic.
I realized that many spice blends on the market lacked purity, authenticity. So when we decided to start a business of spice blends we focused mainly on quality, traditional processing and culture. We decided that all our spice blends will be crafted by using the traditional way of pounding. We are bound to give original taste to our customers and make them enjoy Mom’s magic in every pinch of our spice blends.
Through Mombay we are trying to help the Mahila Bachat Group of Maharashtra who are working with us. We want to pass on the tradition and culture of our roots on to the future generations.
As a woman and a mother, I want to remind all women to stand up for themselves and their dreams. It is never too late. So here I am, inviting all of you to join our journey

With all my love and pride
From a young age, I have watched my mother balance family, work and life with resilience and strength. She always puts others first, yet her dreams, ambitions and talents deserve to be front and center of the world. As she embarks on this journey of building something of her own, I am reminded of how powerful women can be when they embrace their dreams.
This venture is more than just a step - it's a statement. A statement to all women, that it's never too late to follow your passion, the only thing you need is belief.
The responsibility of women empowerment is an equal share between men and women. Men should be supportive and understanding towards the women in their lives, nurture them, and ensure they have the right environment to thrive and succeed.
Here’s to you, Mom and to every woman daring to turn her dreams into reality. I am super proud of the progress you have made in such a short time. May this venture be a beacon of empowerment, reminding every woman that she's capable of much more, that she's capable of greatness.
